This Privacy Policy explains how LocalLink collects, uses, stores and protects personal information when users access our app, website and related services. LocalLink is a platform that helps customers discover, contact and book local service providers.

1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use LocalLink, we may collect the following types of information:

  • Account information: name, email address, login method, account role and authentication details.
  • Business information: business name, business description, service categories, services, pricing, availability, address or service area, business photos and contact information.
  • Customer booking information: selected services, booking dates and times, booking status, service provider, price, payment method and booking history.
  • Location information: approximate or precise location where permission is granted, used to help customers discover nearby businesses and services.
  • Messages and support content: messages sent through LocalLink, support requests and related communications.
  • Payment-related information: payment status, transaction references and payment processor information. Full card details are handled by our payment provider and are not stored by LocalLink.
  • Device and technical information: device type, app version, crash data, diagnostic data, push-notification tokens and security logs.
  • Usage information: app interactions, feature usage and analytics that help us improve performance and reliability.

2. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • create and manage user accounts;
  • provide customer and business features in the app;
  • show relevant local businesses and services;
  • process booking requests and booking updates;
  • enable communication between customers and businesses;
  • send service notifications, booking updates and important account messages;
  • support payment processing, refunds, disputes and fraud prevention;
  • provide customer support;
  • improve LocalLink, fix bugs and monitor platform performance;
  • protect users, businesses and the platform from misuse, fraud and security risks;
  • comply with legal, tax, regulatory and app-store obligations.

3. Legal basis for processing

Where applicable, we rely on lawful bases including performance of a contract, legitimate interests, consent, legal obligations and protection of users or the platform. For example, we process booking information to provide the service, use limited diagnostics to keep the app reliable, and may retain certain records where required for payment, fraud prevention or legal purposes.

4. Location data

LocalLink may request access to location information to help users discover nearby local services. Location data is used for app functionality such as distance-based discovery and service availability. LocalLink does not operate as a live user-to-user location sharing service.

5. Payments

Payments may be processed by trusted third-party payment providers such as Stripe. Payment providers may process personal and transaction information under their own policies. LocalLink does not store full card numbers.

6. Service providers

LocalLink may use trusted service providers for hosting, authentication, databases, analytics, crash reporting, messaging, notifications, payments and operational support. These providers only receive information needed to provide their services.

7. Sharing of information

We may share limited information where needed to operate LocalLink, including:

  • sharing booking details between a customer and the selected business;
  • sharing account or business profile information that the user chooses to publish or provide;
  • sharing payment-related information with payment processors;
  • sharing information with service providers who help operate the platform;
  • sharing information if required by law, regulation, court order, fraud prevention or platform safety needs.

8. User-generated content

LocalLink may allow users or businesses to create content such as profiles, descriptions, service lists, photos, messages, reviews or booking notes. Users are responsible for ensuring content they provide is accurate, lawful and appropriate. LocalLink may remove content that breaches our terms or creates safety, fraud or legal concerns.

9. Data retention

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy. Account data may be retained while an account remains active. Booking, payment, dispute, fraud-prevention and legal records may be retained for longer where required for compliance, accounting, dispute resolution or platform safety.

10. Account deletion

Users can request deletion of their LocalLink account and associated data using our account deletion page or by contacting support@locallinkapp.co.uk from the email address linked to their account.

Some records may be retained temporarily or where required for payment processing, dispute handling, fraud prevention, legal compliance, accounting or regulatory obligations.

11. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection to certain processing of your personal data. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise these rights, contact support@locallinkapp.co.uk.

12. Children and young users

LocalLink is not intended for very young children. Users under 18 should use LocalLink with appropriate parental or guardian involvement, particularly where bookings, payments or service appointments are involved.

13. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted transmission, controlled access and trusted infrastructure providers. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect LocalLink and its users.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updated versions will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
